This is a property with significant "potential". Alas, to tap into this potential, may we suggest a few actions for management to take:
1 - Housekeeping is terrible. On arrival, we found (I) a left behind jeans jacket in the closet, (II) a used razor in the shower, and (III) leftover water in one of the glasses. We submitted this on the arrival feedback form, but there was no reaction. Later, we discovered that the cap for the water carafe in the room was in fact moldy, and that the room had been re-arranged by previous guests, and had not been put back into proper order (after the first night, this got fixed by housekeeping, to our surprise when we returned).
2 - Reception staff are lazy and do not know anything. If you leave your luggage witht he hotel, you have to go and get it back yourself. No tags on the luggage, just a room full of suitcases and "pick what you like". The only time the reception staff were proactive was when there was an opportunity to upsell (book a car, use the sauna for a fee, etc.)
3 - On a positive note, the breakfast room staff were stellar. If everybody would show the same attitude, the hotel could live up to its "potential".
Especially for travelers from Japan, who are accustomed to excellent services: Do not stay at this property!
