The receptionist was OK but seemed to want me to show photo ID like a passport, I had one coming in the post that arrived when I got back, I showed him some photo ID of my son which was a Uni photo ID, I felt as we had paid for our accommodation before hand and we had travelled 3 hours to get there by train and on top the time to take a bus to the accommodation we were tired, i showed him all my credit cards, some other ID that confirmed my details and who I was. Eventually after feeling stressed and tried sorting this out we could go to our rooms finally, Most hotels we have stayed at for years did not pursue this demand for Photo ID like this male Receptionist, This has made me think next time we came to Crawley should we really stay at this hotel or find another one less stressful upon arrival. The hotel was difficult to get through to on the telephone before hand so any questions I had were not answered at all. So not so happy.
There was no hot running water in the hand basin in my bedroom or in the bath, so had to run the shower head into the bath to even get a warm temperature in the bath. There was no one on reception when we left even though I rang the bell so had to risk leaving the keys on the reception desk. Overall a mixed bag as the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean.
Recommendations to improve this hotel from my own experience would be:
More present and engaging receptionists. Checking that there is hot water for baths and hand basins.
