Nice local hotel for weekend getaway
Centrally located in Crosslake, you're a quick walk, bike ride, or drive to just about any activity or eating establishment in the area. The hotel has the cabin-y feel most people have come to expect Up North, and the rooms are furnished accordingly. Our king room was comfortable enough, though the bed was very hard, and having a sofa when watching tv was very nice. There was a table and chairs, but the chair seats were not very supportive which made sitting on them uncomfortable -- we ended up putting pillows on them when we used the table. Plenty of space for clothes, but we had to ask for hangers (where the desk clerk asked if we planned to take them with us when we left -- seriously!). The hotel has a coffee bar in the lobby with coffee and hot water on demand along with liquid creamer (yay!) which was greatly appreciated. Since it was still off season, there were very few guests so it was very quiet. Surprisingly, the desk staff was not very friendly, something I've never encountered in northern MN, but perhaps they were just having a bad weekend. Regardless of where you stay, be sure to get breakfast at the adjacent restaurant -- the food is tasty and plentiful and their cinnamon and pecan rolls are amazing!
