The initial reception check in wasn't ideal, I'd arrived a little early, the room wasn't ready which is fair, but there wasn't particularly a warm welcome or a suggestion of have a cuppa somewhere whilst you wait, I'd asked if the rugby was on anywhere as I'd been keen to watch the second half of the world cup semi final but was just told no. I'd ended up leaving and returning later. Again it wasn't particularly a warm welcome, I was checked in then advised if I wanted to use the spa I needed to pay for that, when I queried it I was advised that was cheap. However it's disappointing that the use isn't inclusive of the hotel stay, which it has been in the many years I've stayed at this hotel before, and given that there are other similar hotels in the area it would make me choose more carefully in future.
That aside the leisure facilities are perfect for a short break and the hotel offers a great location for exploring the area.
The restaurant has been updated and has a lovely view, the food was pricey but delicious.
