Let’s start with the pool, it’s small. Maybe 8’ x 12’ with nowhere to sit around the pool, it’s more of a plunge pool. When you are in the pool with other travelers, strangers, then 2-3 people is a crowd! Four breast strokes and your from one end to the other.
To get up to the pool there’s 2 giant steps that are slippery and really hard to get up and down and are dangerous after a swim! There are no railings.
My room was the “deluxe” upstairs with NO tv, NO coffee making facilities, 1 bed lamp, no natural light for reading, because if you leave the curtains open on the glass doors, everyone can see right in!
The bedding is cheap
The pillows are not good
NO lift & definitely no help from staff to lug your suitcase upstairs, in fact, the staff just scroll on their phones all day long!
One spoke some English but the others didn’t understand what I was asking and just smiled. You need to request room cleaning at reception.
Reception is a small desk up 2 stairs and squashed in under a staircase, you can only reach it through a tangle of scooters that you need to manouvre around to get anywhere!
Bags of rubbish piled up.
The laneway entry is mostly dirt so when it rains it’s muddy, dark and uninviting.
It’s only a 5minute walk down to Ubud’s main street, great going down, it’s a hill to get back up!
All in all, its budget, the pool is nice and cold, but don’t have any illusions of coming back after a day’s sightseeing and having a beer poolside because it’s impossible!
