At checkout, the hotel claimed I hadn't paid for the stay, saying they couldn't find my Hotels.com payment in their system. I showed them my Hotels.com receipt, which clearly stated the stay was prepaid and only city taxes were due. The front desk staff disregarded my word and the evidence I presented, causing us to delay our departure and nearly miss our flight. They charged me twice and didn't refund the EUR 100 security deposit. After several email exchanges, the hotel admitted to the duplicate charge, but they still haven't refunded it to my credit card statement. On top of that, I'm out of pocket for the IOF tax due to Brazilian laws. This was terrible customer service; save yourself the headache. I'm still in contact with Hotels.com support to resolve my situation.
