TL;DR: It was bad enough that we left after a few minutes, without a refund (because both property and Expedia were unhelpful), and booked a room elsewhere.
Our room was very unclean. There were wrappers & dirt under the beds, cigarette burns on the bedding, cigarette burns on the side of the bathtub, and the toilet was not cleaned thoroughly. We found a dead bug of some sort in a pillowcase as well as a live cockroach on the wall. The staff member we spoke to denied it, but it smelled as though someone had smoked in the nonsmoking room recently. Most importantly, the smoke alarm was missing. The employee we dealt with was nice, but ultimately all he could do for us was supply us with a disinfectant spray. He said there were no other rooms to move us to. Expedia's customer service basically told us that they couldn't do anything & we had to go through the property. We ended up leaving after only a few minutes, without a refund, and got a room elsewhere.
