As a first-time visitor to Jamaica and a RIU property, I was filled with excitement for an unforgettable vacation. However, my experience was deeply disappointing. Upon arrival, the bathroom was moldy, with mildew on the glass, and the water pressure was insufficient. On the second day, we had no running water at all—imagine being on a beach vacation with two small children and unable to shower them. The third day was similar to the first, with barely any water, and on the fourth and final day, we had NO hot water. This vacation turned into a nightmare. Despite sending numerous complaints, there was no resolution. After speaking with the GM, she mentioned that the neighborhood redevelopment was affecting the water supply, but this information was only provided on the last day after many complaints. I find this hard to believe, as I met another mom at the pool who wasn’t experiencing the same issues. It seems they were unwilling to help while my family suffered. The food was mediocre, with limited options for kids throughout the day, and room service had a restricted menu. The BBQ by the pool was amazing, great chicken! Overall, the hotel was well-kept and clean. We never left the hotel as the area outside seemed a bit unsafe. I have filed complaints with Expedia and the hotel, seeking compensation for this poor experience. First and last time I will be staying at RIU property.
