8/10 Muy bueno

Lovely olde worlde pub from 1719. Recently refurbished bedrooms, tastefully decorated. Smallish rooms but that is what you would expect in a property of this age. It had everything you needed. Comfy bed too. Didn’t try the breakfast because we had to get off early. Sunday lunch the night before was excellent.

4/10 Aceptable

Room was small but to a good standard and really nice shower, manager tried to charge us for room after we paid on here but double checked when mentioned already paid and apologised, breakfast was a disappointment, mostly cold and came very quickly after sitting, so didnt eat much, took awhile to get a check back and did get offered to get it re cooked but refused as we had to go

6/10 Bueno

Lovely hotel, however, not suitable for people with mobility issues. Stairs to rooms very steep and shallow. TV had fallen off the wall so nothing to watch in the evening. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as ordered poached eggs and they came on dry toast that went soggy with the water from the eggs as toast was not buttered.

A great place to stay, conveniently placed as a base to explore the Lake District.

I so want this place to succeed! It’s in the most picturesque village, but needs some TLC after a string of management changes. New team comes in August. The bedrooms are clean, small, very comfortable and well designed. Current staff are lovely, but they’re leaving in 2 weeks.

We were thankful we could book this stay after 6pm online and get into our room soon after I did have a similar experience as another reviewer who said the manager had a card machine promt for me to pay I told him we had payed via hotels.com and after checking he apologized I asked to borrow an iron and was told they don't have one as they were new owners/managers So take your own if you can Nice pint and open fire in there It seems most punters know one another well and we did feel a little out of ace but it wasn't a problem really The room was small and we did have issue with old water system making a horrendous noise every time the toilet flushes (and in the next room) I would stay again if caught short but otherwise I'd probably stay elsewhere Sorry
