I have been coming to Ft. Bragg for over 20 years, and this is the first time staying at Shoreline cottages - not sure why it took me so long, but I'll be back! Safe, clean, cozy, good location. Stayed in the Dolphin Room. The gardens are lovely - great to sit and read or have some wine. There are a few recommendations.
1. The cottage had a musty smell. I bought a candle to burn, and the smell inside the cottage disappeared. The smell did impact the dishes to where I wasn't comfortable using them without washing first. Recommend they leave cabinets open/do something to air out the cottage. Being on the coast, it's not unexpected but should be addressed.
2. The kitchen cabinet doors stuck a bit - for a couple I had to use a knife to pry them open - seems like it could be easily addressed
3. Some throw rugs at the side of the bed would be nice as it was cold in the mornings with bare feet.
Recommend staying - if you like luxury, this is not the place. If you want a safe, cozy, reasonably priced place to land, relax, decompress and explore the area, this is the place to be. Dolphin was cottage #1 right by HWY 1 - I took my hearing aids out and it was good. If you're sensitive to noise, book a cottage closer to the back.
