Avid has been my go-to hotel since it opened. I booked and paid for my room online, but when I checked in, I was charged a second full room rate instead of just the card hold for incidentals. I didn’t notice until the next day. When I brought it up to the front desk, I was told the manager would call me Monday. By Wednesday, I still hadn’t heard back, so I called and asked to speak directly with the manager. I was given the runaround multiple times before finally reaching Sydney (manager), who blamed the issue on a “new system.” This excuse was not accurate, as the same thing happened to me four months ago.
On top of that, the included breakfast was very disappointing. It’s advertised until 10am, but when I went down at 9:35, everything was picked over. When I asked about it, the staff member was rude and simply told me, “You should have come down earlier,” without offering any alternative or accommodation.
Between the double charge, unhelpful staff, and poor service at breakfast, this was a very frustrating stay. I would not recommend this hotel.
