This property is gorgeous and off the beaten track along a winding mountain road in a village with approx 25 inhabitants-so very good for an escape. Made up of traditional villas with comfy beds and shared pool. Easily drivable to beaches in abt 30 mins

A lovely peaceful villa with a beautiful view

We spent three lovely days at the villa up in the mountains. It was full of rustic charm and very peaceful (the only sounds in the evening were goats and birds!) The building has lots of history and has a pool and an en site convenience store which is really useful. The breakfast was incredible! It was served on the balcony of our room. I’d highly recommend that you have it when you stay! The owner is also very helpful and communicative. I had several questions throughout the stay and always received timely and informative responses.

Perfect Vacation

If you want to relax and get away from the crowded commercial areas, this Is the perfect place. We stayed in the purple villa and had a lot of space between the three of us. The views are spectacular and you can see all down to the beach and up to the mountains. The people managing the villas are very kind and helpful and are happy to answer any question. You do need to have a vehicle since it´s 12 minutes by car down the hill to the nearest Taverna and minimarket. There is a taverna in the village but it is not regularly open. I can recommend the breakfast, the best we ever had. There are also several different nice walks/hikes with beautiful views if you like us like to have a morning walk.

Wir haben zu zweit eine fantastische Woche in diesem kleinen Paradies verbracht 😍 Wer hier bucht, sucht keine Partymeile, sondern Ruhe, Entspannung und echtes Griechenland-Feeling – und genau das bekommt man hier zu 100 % 👌 Die Unterkunft ist top ausgestattet: Küche, Klimaanlage, Reinigungsartikel – es fehlt wirklich an nichts. Schon bei der Ankunft wurden wir mit einem liebevollen regionalen Willkommenspaket überrascht 🥰 Der Gastgeber ist einfach Gold wert: super herzlich, immer erreichbar per WhatsApp und mit tollen Tipps zur Stelle 👍 Besonders genial fanden wir den kleinen „Mini-Markt“ direkt vor Ort 😄 Dort gibt’s Getränke, Snacks, BBQ-Zubehör, Spiele und irgendwie alles, von dem man erst merkt, dass man es braucht, wenn man es plötzlich hat 😂 Die gesamte Anlage ist wunderschön ruhig, extrem gepflegt und bis ins Detail durchdacht. Der Pool? Ein Traum 💦 Sauber, entspannend und mit richtig bequemen Liegen ausgestattet – wir hätten dort vermutlich auch noch eine zweite Woche ausgehalten 😎 Highlight für Aktive: die E-Mountainbikes 🚴‍♂️ Selbst die 4 km bergauf vom nächsten Ort fühlen sich damit an wie Rückenwind deluxe 😄 Auch kulinarisch ein Volltreffer 🇬🇷 Fußläufig gibt es tolle Tavernen, besonders die eines älteren griechischen Ehepaars war absolut herzlich und authentisch ❤️ Kurz gesagt: Wir kamen als Gäste und gingen als Fans 😄 Absolute Empfehlung!

Lugar perfecto para relajarse

Fue todo estupendo, las villas son muy bonitas, están muy limpias y decoradas con mucho gusto. Es un alojamiento perfecto para aquellos que busquen escapar de los sitios turísticos y quieran relajarse en un entorno rural. En coche llegas en media hora a Chania y a cualquier playa.

Wir hatten einen wundervollen, erholsamen Urlaub mit unserem kleinen Hund und waren 2 Wochen dort. Die liebevoll angelegte Anlage mit den 5 Villen, der Bepflanzung und dem Pool ist einfach großartig. Auf Wunsch kann man sich das Frühstück auf eine der wundervollen Terrassen servieren lassen. Die Häuser werden täglich geputzt und es gibt einen kleinen Minimarkt mit allen Köstlichkeiten der Insel. Die Lage ist wunderbar ruhig und mit dem Auto gut erreichbar. Nach Chania ist es 30 min. mit dem Auto, sowie zu den zahlreichen, traumhaften Stränden und Beachbars. Ideal für einen entspannten Pärchenurlaub ❤️

Traumhaftes Haus, traumhafte Lage,

hervorragend und sehr liebevoll restauriertes Haus in idyllischem Bergdorf. Der Eigentümer sorgt für einen sehr persönlichen und umfassenden Service. So ist im Hause ein kleiner Supermarkt mit allerlei Spezialitäten und Köstlichkeiten eingerichtet, so dass man sich auch selbst versorgen kann, Allerdings lockt einen das "Adlernest", gleich um die Ecke, ebenfalls mit köstlichem Mahl. Das Frühstück im Samonas ist umwerfend und wer das verpasst ist selber schuld.

Wonderful relaxing experience

Incredibly accommodating host. The room was wonderful and bed was really comfortable. The amenities were also great and included a cafe if any last minute items were needed. Guests were also able to request breakfast which was a great way to start the day.

Beautiful location and rooms.

Built from local farm building. Used local materials and traditional furnishings. Our unit included the remains of a stone oven and a well, which added to the traditional feel. Rooms are elaborately decorated with local objects. Service was excellent and the breakfasts were foody Cretan. Very peaceful location is reached by a narrow set of hairpin curves.

Complete and total disaster

I booked the accommodations in May or June 2014. In fact I made an error in the original booking, and had to rebook with the assistance of a hotels.com associate. Then ONE DAY prior to arrival I get an email from Lodging Operations (which works for both Expedia and hotels.com) that my reservation has been cancelled as the hotel has oversold the reservations. The owner/manager - who I was directed to talk to - claimed he informed hotels.com that the reservation cannot be accepted as early as June, but they ignored to inform me. This does not make much sense since the reservation had to be rebooked. On the other hand, the hotels.com employee who was "trying to help me" was NO help at all - he said either that we can cancel the reservation and hotels.com team will rebook us - without ever giving even a hint of any details - or that we deal with the Samonas owner/manager who was offering an alternative - essentially forcing us to deal directly with the Samonas manager. With family in the air I had little options given the total lack of support from hotels.com and took alternative accommodation arranged by the Samonas owner, at a completely different location, and without air conditioning and wifi. While we made it through, we were heavily overcharged since what we paid for Samonas was not returned and/or prorated. I will be calling hotels.com (whom I already emailed but no response so far) demanding corrective actions. As it stands, this was a total fiasco and a ripoff.

bellissimo rifugio a poca distanza dal mare

dopo 10 giorni in viaggio di nozze a Creta e dopo aver soggiornato a Malia, decidiamo di avvicinarci all'aereoporto di Chania. Preventivamente da casa abbiamo prenotato attraverso expedia, il luogo dalle foto ci sembrava molto accogliente, ma non ci saremmo mai aspettati tutta quella bellezza,eleganza,raffinatezza e cura nelle scelte fatte da Costantino (proprietario). Sicuramente se lo avessimo scoperto prima non saremmo mai stati a Malia, ma avremmo utilizzato Samonas come appoggio per visitare Creta.

Slice of heaven

Went to recharge batteries - pre Easter. And this place really worked. Had it all to ourselves. The views from our balcony were stunning. The breakfasts legendary - fresh yoghurt, honey, fruit, spinach pies, cheese and walnuts, eggs, fresh coffee, avocados with honey, fresh orange juice. And that happened every day. After a refreshing dip in the plunge pool looking at the snow capped mountains, The host is an absolute star - makes brilliant quince jam - available from the little honesty shop on site. He also bought my mum ingredients to make the jelly she loved. A great spot for spring flower hunting. Dont miss the monumental 3000 yr old olive tree down the road too.

Something different but excellent

At first I was a little freaked out when we were driving from the Chania airport to the hotel. It seemed so far. I got especially concerned as we drove up --what I later dubbed-Goat mountain.But when we got there-and up the stone stairs with all the beautiful flowers and trees and into our amazing room complete with fireplace and a great balcony overlooking the valley-I knew I had made the right decision. Yes the hotel is out of the way, yes it does take about 20 minutes to get up the mountain, yes you are about 40 minutes from Chania's town center but the time goes by fast (once you know where you are going) and the ride is half the fun, The owner of the hotel created this little piece of paradise with nothing but utter devotion. It seems that there is nothing he hasn't though of--our room even had a washing machine and soap for goodness sake!
