The private room (#25) was surprisingly good (your standards may be different) and met the requirements for the weekend. The hotel itself is well situated.
That said, there are a LOT of issues - some minor, some a little more frustrating. Something that others have not commented on - the "smoking section" was in the back, but the door was sometimes left slightly open, and sometimes closed completely, requiring walking halfway around the block to get back to the entrance if it closed (why not use the same lock as the front door?). Walking up and down the (fire safety) steps to the main floor was a bit scary. Cleaning staff did not ONCE check or clean the room, and they left only ONE (fairly small) towel. The decor in the common areas is VERY dated ("The Shining" vibes), and it was quite noisy at times, particularly with the neighbouring rooms occupied. It is also quite noisy from the traffic on Sherbrooke.
I feel like this place would probably benefit immensely from a few minor improvements that would GREATLY improve the experience. That said, it's hard to complain too much given the price, overall features and location.
