This is a great place for the casual traveler or those who will be on the go a lot. A restaurant (7a-11p, or close to it) adjoins the hotel, but they are two separate establishments. The Tram Line 2 stops less than one block from the hotel, so save your cab fare from the airport, as the tram is only 1.5 Euros (it is a slight pain to register for an account to purchase and use tickets from your mobile).
The hotel has a small elevator and a wide staircase. I spent three nights there and only randomly encountered other guests. Some property notes: phone the property from outside the door to be let in as the front (street) door is always locked. When you get a key, one is to the room and the other is to the front door, which makes the place very secure. The lobby has some beach toys and chairs to use, and since the beach is really large pebbles, you definitely want something to sit on (I took a blanket from the room). The old school manager is very pleasant, and extremely knowledgeable about the area; ask for a walking map, it's quite helpful. Amore Gelato is delicious, a few blocks away; there are two supermarkets within two blocks, lots of small eateries, and the tram will take you downtown to the throng of restaurants, shops, and the mall. Nice is very navigable by public transit--the Chagall and Matisse museums can be reached by the 67 bus. The Parc Phoenix was a disappointment (it was definitely suffering from the heat), but Monaco and Monte Carlo more than made up for it.
