The apartment itself was fine (except for the shower)--roomy, clean with a very comfortable bed. The shower was adequate -- temperature control was unsteady, and the drain was finicky. The host also provided enough coffee for our entire stay, which was a nice touch.
However, there were major problems in communication. Queries went unanswered for weeks. The Expedia site promises that entry instructions (the lockbox code) wouldl be sent 48 hours before check-in. When I asked if it could be earlier, the host replied that they would be sent 24 hours before check-in! Maybe a punishment for asking too much? The 24 hour mark came and went, with no word -- finally at 11 PM the night before arrival I wrote to Expedia and, after a lot of back-and-forth, got the email address for the host, who then responded with the check-in info at 1 AM on the day of our arrival. The message also revealed that we would be on the third floor, with no elevator (actually the 4th floor, you had to go up a flight to get to the first). The website says there is no elevator, but did not indicate what floor we would be on. Since we are octogenarians, we would not have booked the apartment had we known this.
