Had to find a hotel in Torquay at very short notice, Easter weekend, to visit an elderly parent in a local hospital. So I couldn't spend too long looking and I'm sure most places would be fully booked.
At £55 a night, you can probably get a Travel-Inn, Travel lodge.
Good points:
Close to town centre so easy to find and get to other places.
Was very clean.
Mattress / pillows very comfortable.
Once the karaoke / tribute band stopped early evening it was very quiet.
Good wifi strength and free.
Reasonable in-room tea and coffee make facilities.
Bad points:
Room did look a little disheveled, surprizing this early in the holiday season.
Heating only seemed to be switched on for a hour or two in the morning.
Room quite small, queen size bed didn't help.
Staff not the best, no one reception and took their time to come when buzzer pressed.
Breakfast not included, fair enough, but wasn't offer the chance to purchased at check-in and I was rudely told the next day it was impossible to purchase it on the day, it had to booked by 6:30pm the day before.
Room only serviced if you put sign on door.
In room welcome folder was mostly don'ts
TV room remote didn't work (batteries flat?)
