This is a great hotel for an overnight stay if you’re either flying out of Kilimanjaro airport or flying in. Nice restaurant, nice pool, helpful staff, 24 hour shuttle bus (we left at 145AM, no problem)! Rooms were clean and a hot shower is available which can be hard to come by in Africa!

LOCK ON DOOR WAS BROKEN TWO TIMES. ONCE WHEN WE LEFT THE LOCK WOULD NOT LOCK AND LATER THAT EVENING THE LOCK WAS BROKEN AGAIN AND COULD NOT GET BACK INTO THE ROOM. MAINTENANCE HAD TO COME TO THE ROOM 2 TIMES. ALSO WE ASKED (AND WAS PROMISED) THAT, BECAUSE OF EARLY DEPARTURE), BREAKFAST WOULD BE READY AT 6AM. IT WAS NOT READY UNTIL 6:30AM WHICH MADE THE DEPARTURE VERY RUSHED. I REALIZE THAT THE ABOVE EVENTS WERE A ONE OFF AND THAT IT DOES NOT REFLECT ON THE KIA LODGE IN GENERAL. I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN.

Easy check-in, staff helped me to my room with my bags and oriented me to the amenities in the room. Door knob was loose and seemed unsafe, no interior latch on door. There was a gap between bottom of door and floor where critters could get in. Bottled water was provided in room. King size bed had 2 sets of twin bedding which seemed odd. Low water pressure in shower and drain had a foul odor. Good complimentary breakfast. Beautiful and well maintained grounds minutes away from the airport. Perfect for late night/early morning flights. Complimentary ground transportation to/from airport. Attentive staff at all times. I would book again due to short distance from airport.

The staff was very friendly and helpful! The property was just what a rustic African lodge should be! I was there during dry season and I am sure the property is beautiful and green during and after rains! So convenient to the airport! Just a fun, friendly place! Food was very good also!

I was only here briefly and at night, but it was truly gorgeous and incredibly convenient as it was located literally on the airport premises so arriving at the airport took minutes. I only have two suggestions and I think they could be easily remedied. 1. Airport transportation (which is advertised as complimentary) made it very clear a tip was expected. Either charge outright for the service or talk to drivers about not asking directly for "tips" when they're actually expecting payment. I'm American and have no problem tipping as it's our culture. However, I don't have cash on hand always at the end of a trip. I'd rather just be able to use my card. 2. My dining experience was extremely awkward. The host remained about 15 feet from my table the entire time and it was extremely quiet to begin with so I felt weird talking to my friend about anything because every word could be heard. If he had just moved over a little when he saw we were the only table, it would've been much less bizarre. Other than that, I'd happily book again. Albeit, with cash payment on hand for the driver's payment and a book to read in the restaurant so that I don't have to speak. 💁‍♀️

Convenient - it’s physically inside the airport gates. Check out was at 10:00. If your flight is in the evening they have you check out and store your bags at reception; you can remain on the grounds by the pool or in the restaurant or bar while waiting. The gift shop is great if you’ve not been able to find a souvenir for someone before departing.

Less than what I expected

We decided to stay at this hotel for our first night because of the reviews about the Kili view. However, for my perspective the hotel does not worth the price you pay. Rooms have not good ilumination, no TV, not even books or internet, I know that when you go to Africa you are going to do activities outside, however, yo do expect to have at least internet to contact your beloved ones to tell them you arrive. The only internet signal is on the bar, and as soon as you arrive on it, they are asking you to drink something! There is only 1 restaurant and is really pricy for the food you have, we have to have dinner there and we paid 35 USD just for a small dinner of soup and one main dish and 2 drinks! More than in a Red Lobster! In addition I paid the reservation trough Hotels.com website and when we arrived they said there was no payment at all, and they charged me 50% more, because they insisted that Hotels.com only asked me 50% , and it was not! We stayed in different hotels during our staying at Tanzania and we have to say sadly that this was the worst choice we made concerning housing, the only good thing is that is close to Kili Airport, but is better to pay a taxi/cab and go to another one. Sorry guys!

J'avais choisi cet hotel pour la proximité de l'aéroport, j'ai réservé le transfert et le chauffeur était bien present à mon arrivée à 2h du matin. Je suis donc satisfait. Pour le reste, l'hotel est vieillot, dommage mais il manque d'entretien, chambre et jardin. Piscine très agréable et belle vue sur le K. Personnel sympa.

Wifi was not working in the room due to some problem. Had to go to the bar to connect to wifi which was spotty. Very old furnishings, poor bathroom facilities and non-smoking staff except Teresia (so?). The hotel manager was unapologetic about the wifi issue and did not offer any other amenities to compensate. Very poor standard for a hotel that charges almost $200 USD per night.

Way over priced.. Food was awlful.. Toilet didnt work. Staff VERY eager to assist and were friendly BUT communication was a struggle and their hygiene could of been better.. Strong BODY ODOR. I am very disappointed..

Comme je devais prendre un vol très tôt le matin, c'était la meilleure option pour moi. Hôtel sympa et à moins de 5 minutes de l'aéroport du Kilimanjaro. Ma chambre était spacieuse, confortable et bien aménagée. La nourriture était bonne et Elizabeth était vraiment agréable. Comme je partais avant l'ouverture du restaurant, j'avais demandé à avoir une boite petit dej, mais le responsable a ouvert le restaurant 1/2 heure plus tôt, afin que je puisse manger tranquillement. C'était parfait :)

Great airport lodge!!

We loved Kia Lodge! It is not your average airport hotel - the grounds are beautiful and the rooms are really nice. The staff was super friendly and the food was good. Only issue was that there was no wifi in the rooms. Other than that our stay was great. Would definitely recommend!
