First time visiting Charleston, and I realized just how high hotel rates are. The Creekside Inn was still higher than I prefer to pay, but in comparison, it was on the lower end.
The hotel itself is outside of the main touristy part, but it's an easy direct-shot drive to downtown and the French Quarter. It's also an easy drive to/from the airport.
It is old fashioned with the doors facing outside, but they've done a good job remodeling the rooms. The room itself was clean with comfortable beds. And the AC works well, which felt great after being out in the heat and humidity. I'm not sure if the bathrooms were part of the remodel -- that's where the room looks a little more worn down, but it was fine.
Like a lot of hotels, the towels are really thin and cheap, so that was disappointing. We were offered towels mid-stay, but we were caught off guard by the employee coming into our room around 8:30am.
I also had a situation where I got back after midnight and the lot was full, but I saw an employee sitting outside and he moved his car to the grass so I could take his spot.
The setting on the creek is unique. We didn't spend too much time exploring, but it's worth walking over to the creek. The pool was also busy, although we did not use it.
Overall, it was a good stay and I'd recommend if you don't want to pay big bucks to stay in downtown Charleston.
