This is a wonderful hotel! The entire facility is beautifully decorated. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet, and staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel is in a perfect location - right near the beach and a short walk to downtown. We have stayed here twice and plan to do so again next year!

The rooms (we had two) were cleaned every day and nicely done. They were small and could have used more outlets, but had a nice small balcony overlooking the small pool. AC worked fine. It was indeed a "beach hotel", and was not meant for anything fancy, but was a very good deal for the price. The beach was right across the street and lovely. Wi-fi was a bit spotty, but useable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast (extra) was very nice, except the day that nobody showed up to prepare it (the day after Carnaval). The small staff seemed to take on many roles, but they did everything well. I would definitely go back to Don Gonzalo if we were to travel again to Celestún. The only real problem was the noise from the "neighbors"---not parties and raucousness, but dogs and especially roosters that started crowing around 4 AM and didn't shut up for most of the morning. We have lived in Mexico and have heard these sounds before and got more or less accustomed to it, but it did detract from the experience.
