8/10 Muy bueno

The Lodge itself was beautiful and comfortable ideal for a family or couple with a dog, 2 bathrooms, washing machine, and so spacious!... the views of Milbrook and Plymouth from Lodge 23 are astounding. A great place to relax. Although pet friendly, I think if you own just one, well behaved dog he or she should be allowed off-lead and monitored closely...but it's a no, I understand why, but my dog is a registered working dog and it was her holiday too. Maybe a dog area should be considered ?.
Booking out of season brings quieter times, but we were disappointed in the facilities on site, the Restaurant was closed, although the bar opened at night with some live entertainment on a Friday. We dont drive, so a snack bar and a village shop could be so handy for essentials!, it's a long hilly walk into Millbrook.
Help from reception on arrival was minimal, we were walked to the edge of the footpath and told the Lodge was 'over there'.. Sainsbury does a good delivery service and there are wire barrows outside reception to help in getting your things to your Lodge, which is a good idea!.
There is a lovely Cafe on the cliffs, friendly and have a great menu, as well as the customary cream teas!. Be cautious with any ventures down to the beach as access can be treacherous beyond the designated path. Overall we've had a lovely Anniversary week spent at Whitsand Bay fort, we'd recommend booking, especially if you are using your own transport.
