I recently stayed at the Jaz Makadi Saraya Resort with my family, occupying 4 rooms. Upon arrival, I declared my two kids, knowing that two children under 12 stay free. However, Mr. Mahmoud, the assistant front desk manager, insisted I upgrade to a family room, claiming my booking only allowed two adults and one child. Despite my youngest being just 5 years old and there being no significant difference between the rooms, I was forced to pay the upgrade. I later discovered that other guests who didn’t declare their kids had no issues and were not charged extra. Mr. Mahmoud was inflexible and maintained a fake smile throughout the process. Another front desk staff member, also named Abanoub, appeared unfriendly and only smiled at foreign guests.I also noticed deliberate reductions in air conditioning in both the reception bar and restaurant, making these areas uncomfortably hot. The lighting in the reception bar was dimmed, seemingly to discourage guests from staying too long and consuming more food and beverages.The animation team has declined compared to previous years, lacking the expertise of former members like Shams. They now pressure guests to write positive Google reviews on the spot and even take photos to send to their management.On the positive side, Mr. Mahmoud Takey, the front desk manager, resolved an issue for another room in our group, and Abanoub, a waiter in the reception bar, was always helpful and smiling.
