The check in process took almost one hour because they could not find the reservation despite showing them our booking confirmation with details. They kept saying they could not find it in their system. After half hour, somehow they found it but had problem with us two staying in the 2-queen bed junior suit without breakfast included. They claimed we only booked the two-bed junior suit for one person and wanted to charge us JPY5000 extra per night. While waiting for all the mess, the other staff impolitely tried to put us in an imaginary straight line by commanding us to move our bags, passports, and our stand to about 3 inches from the original place, (like in military drill). We were thinking we were not hotel customers but some kind of prison inmates. After one hour, they found a smoking room so we asked if we could change. The answer was no to no surprises but the reason given was that all the rooms were fully booked tonight. After we got to our junior suit, the room was reek with stuffy smoke smell so we asked another staff to help us. To our surprise, this staff took us to an available room and asked if we wanted to change. The room was a normal twin and cost 2-3 times cheaper. We asked if we could get a refund, the staff said if you told us before paying we could pay less. Imagining us standing there feeling like being cheated.
