The good - We stayed here for one night after a cruise. The hotel is amazing. The private beach is gorgeous, restaurant is fabulous, staff goes above and beyond. We had a studio king bed with bay view and everything about it was great. It was a huge room - exceptionally clean and well maintained. And short walk to Belmont Park and Boardwalk. I could not have been happier with the hotel itself than I was.
The bad, however, was that our amazing room with the beautiful bay view was overlooking the PUBLIC beach side of the hotel. By day, it was a great experience to sit on the balcony and look at the beach. Very peaceful. Once it got dark the entire experience changed. It started around 8;00 with a man loudly wailing Mexican music. That was followed by what sounded like a fight; lots of yelling and cursing. Not long after we heard sirens, which sounded like they stopped right under our room. That cleared up and then we heard dogs barking at each other. And then the man started "singing" again. It was unbelievably noisy until late. And once that ended, there was a lot of car noise (loud bikes and fast and furious sounding cars). We had been told there may be some "street noise" due to the location by guest services but I was not expecting this at all. Sadly, all of this foolishness on the beach is nothing that the hotel can do anything about as it's a public beach.
Despite this, I would actually stay here again but would book a room that is nowhere near the public beach.
