It has been decades since I've stayed at a microtel. It definitely has changed, drastically. However, the employees at this location were very friendly, even when one of my guests became belligerent. I stayed two nights and I was dissatisfied that there was not coffee available except for in the mornings breakfast; neither was there a hot plate, or a hot pot, or a microwave available in the room. The hot water coming from the bathroom sink and bathtub faucets was slow to rise, however, once it became hot, it was hot.
I love the microtel concept, however, it no longer appears to be for people on a budget.
