We have stayed at the Novotel in Solo several times and have always been happy with their service. There is a great little restaurant across the street—Alamama. It has western and Indonesian options. The restaurant at the hotel is always very good too.

We stayed at both Mercure and Novotel during our trip, expecting the standards associated with the Accor brand. Unfortunately, both experiences were disappointing. Before arrival, we requested a quiet room as we had been traveling extensively and needed proper rest. Instead, we received a room with a malfunctioning shower, dirty soap dispensers, stained bed sheets, and visible stains on the carpet, sofa, curtains, and bed headboard. The room did not feel clean or properly maintained, which is unacceptable for a hotel in this category. Breakfast was disappointing. Service was slow, even for simple requests. We waited a long time for eggs, and when an over-easy egg was requested, it arrived fully cooked. The quality of the breakfast and the level of service were both below expectations. Most frustrating was the response when we reported the shower problem. Rather than showing concern or resolving the issue professionally, staff appeared dismissive and uninterested. We never felt that our feedback was taken seriously. Sadly, this reflects our previous experience at Mercure Batavia Jakarta, where we encountered bedbugs. At this Novotel, the issues were poor maintenance, cleanliness, and service. After two disappointing stays at Accor properties, we seriously question the quality control and management standards within the group. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this hotel. Accor should focus more on cleanliness, maintenance, and guest service

設備が少々古いが、sinkの詮が閉じない以外は特に問題はなかった。インドネシアの多くのホテルでは、タオルはバスタオルが置いてあるだけで、フェイスタオルやハンドタオルは置いていない。このホテルもそうだった。 インドネシア旅行者はフェイスタオルを持参するよう注意を促した方が良い。

I would have given an excellent rating except when we arrived after a 7 hour train ride we were given a smoking room that was dirty and run down. Fortunately I showed them our request for non-smoking and they moved us. These little things matter when navigating a foreign country.

THE WORST, NOT RECOMMENDED

We order 4 non smoking rooms and 2 double bed for each room. Once we got there they give us 4 smoking room and 1 queen bed on each room. If the hotel doesn't have non smoking room available at the first place, why on the website show available. It's a SCAM, we have minor traveling with us and the room still smell cigarette even after they do the treatment. The fourcet on the sink is shaky. The front desk is awfull, don't know what they doing.

Good hotel in good location.

The only reason I did not give it 5/5 was the dining facilities. They moved the restaurant to the ball room because of renovation. As it was Ramadan, we opted for pre-dawn supper (sahur) instead of breakfast. The first night, we arrived at 04:00, the food was mostly gone. The second day, we arrived at 03:00, which coincided with World Cup Final, the food was not ready. We needed to wait until 04:00 for the buffet to be completely spread.

I stayed in family room on 8th floor. The room cleanliness was a bit questionable. The floor was uneven and carpet has seen better days (bit sticky too!). Water tank was under maintenance so water could be in off color (green). Asked for laundry bag and inside had whitish residue that I just immediately didn’t dare to use it. Shower mat wasn’t replaced with a new one despite it was wet and just flipped over. Sink was leaking. Trash can was rusted and dinged badly. It’s supposed to be a 4-star hotel but maintenance and cleanliness made me doubtful that it could still be considered a 4-star. A 2.5 is more likely. Oh breakfast too… fried rice was literally rice being fried on a pan without eggs or even meat. They will only add sliced chilis to make it “spicy”. Honestly, this was my first experience staying in a Novotel chain and it made me want to avoid the chain for good.

Comfy stay in Solo

Very nice stay in Solo. All staff had been very helpful and courteous. Room and all facilities were clean. What needs to be improved is the bathroom: hand-held shower head and rain shower head badly need to be replaced.

Shabby and old

The location, The Service, The breakfast are All ok but The hotel Looks so shabby, need renovation. The chairs in the Resto are not comfortable anymore to be seated. My room I used looked shabby and old and a bit dirty bathroom. I was sorry to stay here compared with my previous stay years ago.

Good location, close to Solo Balapan station and several traditional markets. Facilities looks a little bit old but it’s fine.
