We had booked a two-night stay. Upon checking in, we informed the receptionist that we would like to stay only one night (we would leave a day earlier). The receptionist told us that this was not a problem and we would receive a full refund for the canceled night because their policy allowed a refund as long as the hotel was notified at least before midnight of the day before (which we did!). So after spending the first day in Girona, we left the hotel, arrived back home, and discovered they denied us a refund! The hotel was very full. They gave us false information to make us leave the hotel and make room for new guests.
