Let me start by saying this was not a leisure trip—we were in town unexpectedly due to the passing of my mother-in-law. So already, emotions were high. I chose Sonesta because I’ve stayed at their properties before and expected a certain level of quality. Unfortunately, this location was beyond disappointing.
From the moment we walked in, the vibe was off. The lobby chairs were worn and busted, with the leather on the seat parts visibly torn. The hallways were dark and dreary, not well-lit at all, which made everything feel unsettling. When we got to our rooms, we found gnats flying around in all of them. One room even had roaches. Yes—roaches.
Our TV kept randomly switching to Spanish with no explanation. The refrigerator was disgusting, the bathtub had hair in it, and to top it off, there was no microwave in the room. We arrived to find one-third of a roll of toilet paper—and had to walk down to the front desk to ask for more because no one would answer the phone.
The doors were janky and took forever to open with the key, which was super frustrating.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed. I’ve never known Sonesta to be like this, and sadly, I won’t be returning. This experience was just unacceptable—especially during a time when we really needed peace and comfort.
