We’ve stayed here several times before and always enjoyed our visits, which made this experience even more disappointing.
We arrived during a miserable cold wind and rainstorm and were relieved when the front desk told us our room was warm and ready. Unfortunately, when we walked in, we were hit with an overwhelming Pine-Sol smell that filled the entire room. If we opened the windows to air it out, we froze. If we kept them closed, we had to endure the strong chemical odor. We even lit a candle to try to mask the smell.
To make matters worse, the room was absolutely freezing. The old wall heater showed that it was “on,” but no heat was coming out. We called the front desk multiple times and couldn’t reach anyone. Eventually, someone called back, and when we explained that we were freezing and the heater wasn’t working, we were told that the units are very old and don’t work well. We were instructed to use a small portable heater in the closet instead.
We plugged it in, and just as it started to warm the area and we were all set up to play cards, it blew a fuse. The heater and all the lights went out. We tried calling the front desk again several times, but no one was available for the rest of the evening. We were stuck in the dark in a freezing room.
This stay was extremely disappointing and we couldn’t wait to leave.
