I recently stayed at this property and found it to be a disappointment. Having stayed at Fairmont properties before, I had high expectations, but this location did not match the standards set by others.
To start, there was construction in front of the hotel, which was not ideal given the premium price we paid for our stay. The lack of a traditional reception desk was also off-putting; instead, check-in was conducted at a podium with the receptionist using computers off to the side.
The building itself is old, and some areas clearly need improvement, such as the floor of the elevator. The patio behind the bar on the first floor, while nice, could benefit from better patio furniture to make it more inviting.
Our experience at the rooftop bar was particularly frustrating. The staff took forever to take our order, which dampened our enjoyment. At check-out, we decided to have a cup of coffee at the bar while waiting to leave, only to find out the coffee machine was broken. The server mentioned it had been out of order for a week with no clear timeline for when it would be fixed.
In summary, while this property is small and historic, it lacks the luxury and attention to detail I have come to expect from Fairmont. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again.
