After a four-hour drive and a long day of travel, I was looking forward to the room I had carefully reserved. I called ahead to let the hotel know we’d be arriving late and requested a late check-in, hoping for a smooth and easy arrival. While they confirmed the late check-in, I was disappointed that instead of addressing my reservation, the staff spent time trying to sell me a timeshare. They never mentioned that despite my reservation, my room could be given away to another guest—whether they had a reservation or were a walk-in—if they arrived before me.
I had reserved an executive room, but when I arrived, I was assigned a smaller room without any explanation. I paid for the room I had originally booked, and yet, I wasn’t informed that my reservation had been altered until I opened the door to my room. It was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional.
This situation brings to mind that classic Seinfeld episode; This hotel knows how to book a reservation, they just don’t know how to keep it. Thankfully, we were able to find another room at a nearby hotel, on a busy night like Valentine's Day. The only redeeming part of this experience was the kind woman at the front desk, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to make up for the overall disappointment. I will not be booking with this hotel again.
