We have just returned from a fabulous 3 night stay in the Guest House Douro and could not have been happier with our decision to stay there. A very unprepossessing exterior gives way to a small gem of a guest house/hotel in an excellent location close to the river front in Ribeira. Our room (402) was comfortable and clean with everything we needed and a gorgeous river view. Rooms in cities do tend to be small but it was not unreasonably so. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent variety of offerings. What really makes this such a delightful place to stay is each and every member of staff, who were all unfailingly helpful and obliging. Shout out particularly to Luiz who was brilliant. If you are going to Porto and like a small bit perfectly formed place to stay you couldn't do better than the Guest House Douro.

The boutique type hotel is located in the heart of the historic city of Porto. Walking distance to everything, including sites and restaurants. The accommodation is OUTSTANDING, great customer service, friendly staff, and exceptional breakfast. The room was clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I cannot say enough about Ada, Luis and Luisa! The breakfast was unbelievable! It was by far the best breakfast during our entire visit throughout Portugal. And the location was perfect - walkable, view from our room and proximity to many restaurants.
