Our stay at the Sparks Hotel was mixed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, it is an old hotel and does not live up to the Hilton brand.
There was no lockbox in the room and no microwave. The only microwave was beside the receptionist's area. Bagels, mini-muffins, and hard boiled eggs, although peeled, in a bowl do not measure up to a full breakfast. Also, the pictures of the hotel do not prepare one for the neighborhood in which it is located. It was not pleasant driving up to it. If we had known the location, we would have chosen another hotel.
At the same time, having a bed, a heated room, a roof over our heads, and being able to shower, was a blessing. We praise the Lord for having those items being available.
As I said, we have mixed feelings about our stay. The staff did the best that they could with what they had. Our main complaint is that the name "Hilton" carries a certain expectation, and the Sparks Hotel does not have it.
