Low expectations met
This hotel cannot be beat for it’s convenience to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and is the #1 reason why it was chosen for our stay.
We loved the extremely comfortable beds and the incredibly soft and absorbent bath towels. That being said, the property is in need of some serious updating. Initial impression of the rooms (we had 3) were quickly squashed with the dirty vinyl floors, ‘gallons’ of caulk used around the tub edges and where it met the floor, and the year(s) of frost build-up in the room’s mini-fridge’s freezer. Breakfast buffet items were nearly bare bones. Of our 3 rooms: two were missing hair dryers, all had an ironing board but no iron, one had a rack to hang clothes – but no hangers, one had a toilet that allowed one flush, but the water tank would not re-fill. The single bar of soap offered was the size of 2 postage stamps, barely enough for one bath/shower. Chip in the tub by the train was patched – but the patch peeled off. While it was not measured, the gap below the room door and the floor was so large, we had to stuff towels in there to completely darken the room from the corridor lighting. The television in 1 room would not turn on (the ‘power’ light come on, but not the tv) and the remote for the tv was all taped up with electrical tape to keep the batteries from falling out.
