Slightly mixed feelings. Xalet Montana is lovely; newly/nicely renovated, very clean, well-maintained, centrally located, free parking across the street, friendly/polite staff, nice mountain views, good/fresh breakfast (perfect coffee), free ski lockers at the main Soldeu gondola (gondola is a 5-minute walk & takes you up Grandvalira). It's adult-only, so no loud children running around... just loud-drunk adults! Main cons: The spa was clean and relaxing, but the jacuzzi was cool/tepid, not hot. Even with the radiators off the bedrooms get too hot at night, so you have to open the windows. The hotel's right on the main road though, so then it's too loud to sleep (sounds like cars & drunkards in your bed all night). Plus, the mattresses are hard. We stayed a week (w/2 rooms) and only wanted the rooms cleaned once Weds/mid-week (lower carbon footprint), but they didn't get cleaned. We came home from skiing to no fresh towels, no TP, full trash bins, etc. When we complained, they just brought us toilet paper with no apology or remedy-- nothing more. Reception desk didn't explain things very well. Sent us to the wrong ski shop (said it's the one right next door, but it's not), so we ended up paying more for equipment. She said we could buy ski passes from the hotel for the same price, but didn't explain there were different lift options, so we paid a small fortune. We might stay again for a better price and a higher floor away from the street noise.
