I wanted to like this hotel more than I did. I paid $192 for a 1-night stay on a Friday night during the off season, which wasn't insanely expensive, but not a super great price either. I would give this stay a 2.5/5 star rating.
Pros:
-staff upon check-in was incredibly friendly and allowed me to check in at 10am for no extra charge, had solid recommendations for thrift stores and restaurants in the area
-convenient to a lot of locations in Philadelphia, I walked everywhere for the duration of my stay
-spacious bathroom and good water pressure
Cons:
-room was smaller than expected
-bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I tend to prefer firm beds, but this genuinely felt like I could have slept on the floor and had the same comfort level. kept waking up every hour.
-had a weird experience with one of the staff when I came back from a concert on Friday night. I really wanted an iced tea and there is a sign at the cafe that says the restaurant bar staff is able to make coffee drinks there after 4pm. I asked the bartender for an iced tea, and she told me that the cafe was closed and that if I wanted, I could go downstairs to the basement and get iced tea from the vending machine. When I pointed out the sign at the cafe, she said they didn't have iced tea.
-Television had AWFUL reception. I tried using the regular channels first, but there was a terrible lag between the audio and video. I tried to watch some podcasts on the TV's youtube app and encountered the same thing.
