Perfect place for perfect holidays

The villa is beautiful with a wonderful garden, it was a real pleasure to spend our vacation there. Delicious breakfasts and very nice service, every request was fulfilled. In addition, a wonderful breakfast for the road. Thank you and we will definitely come back.

Easily the most amazing property I have ever stayed at (beating some world-class resorts in the Maldives for example). The Savah Sunset Villa, that we had all to ourselves, is the size of a tennis court but has two storeys. The grounds of that one villa down to the beach are the size of a football pitch. The private pool is bigger (and deeper) than many hotels' communal pools. The staff even come to your villa to cook breakfast. The sandy beach and ocean are spectacular. Sunset was heavenly. It is a mystery why this property is undiscovered. Maybe the four-hour drive from Kota Kinabalu is off-putting, but it's an easy trip and well worth it.

Great place to stay! Very comfortable villa and very friendly staff. Information provided through the Expedia booking was limited so would suggest to book directly through the resort website. For example, we were not aware prior to arrival that we could have diner at the villa

As a westerner, you pay for the amazing view, location, almost private beach and a private pool. You won't be able to get it at this price in Europe. For that, this place is paradise. They come to your villa and lay out your breakfast for you and if you had ordered dinner, they would do the same. One weird thing is that the staff just enter your villa and come into the kitchen/ living room. Sometimes they just enter to turn on the lights. They are all very pleasant but it seems odd practice. We felt if we were changing, we had to be careful and ensure all the curtains are closed even though it's a private villa. There are certainly areas for improvement if they had a bit more attention to detail, i.e. skimming the pool in the morning of the dead insects, there are sufficient staff around who could do this. Some of the furnishings could do with being updated/refurbished. It wouldn't take much to make these small improvements and turn it from a 4 star review to a 5 star experience.

We stayed in the Sunbeam villa. This place is absolutely beautiful! Francesca and her team have thought about every detail to make her guests more comfortable - from providing insect repellent and mosquito coils (much needed as there are quite a few insects around) to doing our laundry, to cooking our meals (especially a delicous seafood BBQ), we felt very well looked after even though we were the only guests at the time. The room was clean and tastefully furnished, with a comfortable bed and good aircon. Upstairs and downstairs outside seating areas and a separate kitchen as well as a beautiful private pool. The bathroom is below the bedroom and can be reached internally as well as externally from the ground floor, but the ladder steps down from the bedroom are quite steep to negotiate in the night, so worth considering this if mobility is an issue (other villas may have different layouts). There is a nice beach right next door (and another around the corner) but you need a car to get into Kudat or the tip of Borneo as the location is quite remote - which for us was one of the attractions! This place deserves to be full all the time. Amazing value for money by European standards!

We really enjoyed our stay! The villa was bigger than expected, with a wonderfully relaxing private pool and comfortable bedrooms. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. I loved waking up to the delicious breakfasts they made us every morning. So much more relaxing than eating in the crowded hotels of Kota Kinabalu! The beach was only a few minutes walk from our villa, and absolutely gorgeous, a pristine expanse of sand and warm water. This was another highlight of our time here. It was great fun to walk along the beach at sunset and enjoy the magnificent view. The villa itself was beautiful and well maintained for the most part. One minor complaint is that water leaked a bit from one of the bathroom sinks, and the living room side door was a bit sticky & hard to open. It was also very hot in the bathroom, which is open to the outside air (due to its construction) and doesn't have an air conditioner. However, I want to emphasize these are relatively minor points which didn't detract much from our enjoyment of the place. Overall I'd greatly recommend staying at Kudat Riviera. It's worth the price! Great place to just relax and feel like you're living in the lap of luxury for a few days. We stayed at many hotels during our 3 week vacation and this was one of my personal favorites. Will definitely consider staying here again on a future trip.
