Back in its day, this was THE place to stay in Decatur. I understand it recently changed ownership, so let's hope they resolve the issues.
For starters, as I checked in, the two ladies behind the Front desk were complaining about working there to themselves. I could hear their whole conversation.
The side door closest to the elevators is now locked. This means that once you check in, you must walk down a long corridor to reach the elevators. Your car cannot be driven around to the side door since you can't get in to save your legs.
They serve breakfast. On the first day, they actually made fresh omelets or scrambled eggs. After that, they just had that huge pan of scrambled eggs, which were dry and tough.
Forget the food in the bar, which opens at 5:00 pm and closes at 9:00 pm. Best to drive a mile or so to get better food.
They won't give you service unless you ask for it, so hang your towels up to dry because they don't provide fresh ones.
Overall, unless the new owners address the issues and improve service and food quality, best to stay out at Forsyth, newer hotels, better food options, and the price is the same or better.
