The property is in a great location within the old town. Very unique. The property is dated as was the room, although the bathroom was updated. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing.

The property is very well located, with very helpful staff. Our room was quite spacious, comfortable, and quiet. As it really was in off-season, dining options were limited, but did get a good meal at the property.

The auberge is located in the old. Town within easy walking distance of all the amenities. The restaurant was very good and the restaurant staff were lovely. We stayed with our little dog and it was lovely that he could be with us in the restaurant

The location of the hotel speaks through itself. The hotel is in the middle of Main Street and the beautiful old city of Briancon. To get to the main parking lot, you have to walk uphill on a cobblestone Street so make sure you’re OK shape. It appears to be 14 rooms with three sets of stairs to get to the top rooms. The views are wonderful anywhere from the old forts on the hills or to the streets below, depending on your room. I would highly recommend this over One of the Airbnb’s that are nearby.

Well located
The city is nicely located in the old part of Briancon. You have to park outside the ramparts and bring your luggage to the hotel on foot, not a problem unless you have trouble walking. The hotel is old and the room was dark and poorly lit. Nice bathroom, noisy old wood floors.

Charming hotel in Briançon
The hotel is a charm, a bit tricky to reach by car but very nice inside the old city walls. There was a guy in a leather jacket hanging around in the reception and in the breakfast area that was a bit creepy… otherwise nice and charming with a creepy floor 😁

Because the hotel is located inside the old city walls and in the old town with very narrow streets, access to it is challenging with a car. However, because I had reserved a (paid) garage parking (15 euro and well worth it for us), I could come inside the walls to drop luggage and then proceed to the garage. The very nice young woman who was in charge came (on foot) to our location outside the walls to show us how to come to the hotel and to get inside the barrier. She then went with me to the garage to park for the night. If you have little or no luggage, parking in the parking outside the walls would be fine. It’s not a bad walk from there to the hotel, but if you have concerns about luggage left in the car, definitely the garage is better and very secure. Otherwise we loved the hotel and the room was very pretty and typical. We had dinner at the VERY nearby le Gavroche where we had the extremely good and local “raclette”—melted cheese with potatoes, salad, bread and cured meats. Plus the ice cream dessert that was as good as any I’ve ever had, and I’m an ice cream lover (although the pistacchio was not wonderful). Great stay, great price, wonderful location and experience. We didn’t have breakfast.

Cozy, charming hotel
Cozy hotel in the heart of the walled city of Briançon. Clean and charming room with kettle. Ask for free parking voucher at hotel for a public parking spot a 5-10 min walk away.

Staff was exceptionally helpful. While I had a hard time knowing where to park, once I got to the reception area staff provided the pass for free parking and gave me instructions on how to reach the appropriate lot. Location is exceptionally good.
The hotel itself is quiet but I could not put that in the rating because the night I was there, there was loud music two blocks away that went on until 23h on a Thursday night. Not the property’s fault.
Many restaurants were busy and I highly recommend reservations for dinner.

A Gem in the Heart of the Old City
Briancon was the half way point in my hike from Chamonix to the Nice. I was searching for a place to spoil myself -- a respite to take the day off with great food, old town ambiance, and a comfortable room. Auberge de la paix delivered. It was hard to leave! I'll definitely return.

Quirky stopover at a gateway to the alps.
Quirky old hotel in walled old town. Not easy to find as the entrance to the town is gated and an entrance code required. Whilst it is possible to get relatively close to the hotel to drop off bags it's then quite a walk to the public car park outside of the town walls.
The old town itself is quirky too but worth the effort of a walk around.
