Nice room but extra work to get to Corniglia
To be clear, this was a lovely hotel room with partial view of the sea in a quieter Cinque Terre town. The staff were helpful. The sofa made into a bed for our kids and there was a table to sit at in the room. Overall the room itself was nice.
There were few negatives about the hotel/room itself. New towels weren't provided daily except for an extra cost-not a big deal to us. Breakfast didn't start until 8:30 and was quite basic anyway, so if it's a hot day I would recommend hike early, skip this breakfast, and eat later at whatever town you hike to. It was far too hot during our stay to wait until 9 AM to begin a hike.
The biggest negative for the hotel was the difficulty getting to Corniglia during peak tourist season in very hot weather. While there is a bus to get up the hill and comes every ~20 minutes, it was often too full to get on, leaving us to wait for the next bus (especially difficult if you are trying to get luggage on this crowded bus). There is no shade to wait in for the bus by the train station. We were absolutely drenched with sweat by the time we arrived at the top of the hill, and then had to drag our suitcases through a busy passage way and up a few steps to get to the hotel once at the top. We avoided going up and down the hill more than once a day, although my kids really like swimming at Monterosso and Manarola. If it's not peak tourist season, not super hot, or you have minimal luggage, staying in Corniglia would be fine.
