11 Best Things to Do with Kids in Phuket

The Phuket Trickeye Museum is an interactive 3D painting exhibition offering amazing photo opportunities and great fun for the whole family. Located on the corner of Montri and Phang Nga roads, the 2-storey venue has a gallery of about 100 painted and sculpted scenes using trompe-l’oeil (French for ‘deceive the eye’) techniques, placing you in hilariously unreal yet lifelike situations.

Baan Teelanka is an upside-down house, with all of the tables, chairs and typical furnishings on the roof instead of the floor. The whole 3-storey house is built leaning on its roof, making for some really cool family photos. You can find it on Bypass Road, on the northern outskirts of Phuket Town.

The house is adorned with a maze-shaped garden in its backyard. The Chamber of Secrets @BaanTeelanka is another activity that you can enjoy here – it has 2 rooms from which you have to escape from by finding clues and solving puzzles to open the doors.

Surf House Phuket is a place where you can ride the waves every day, regardless of the weather. This surfing centre is suitable for all ages, from children to adults.

With an adjacent bar and restaurant, grown-ups can enjoy the cool, laidback atmosphere and the excellent location right at the southern end of Kata Beach Road while the kids try some flow riding under expert supervision and tuition. 

Splash Jungle Waterpark is part of the Grand West Sands Villa Phuket on Mai Khao Beach. It has numerous waterslides, a 335-metre ‘Lazy River’, ‘Boomerango’ rides, and a spectacular wave pool, all of which are under the professional supervision of trained lifeguards.

There are also gentle slides and pools for toddlers and small children. Guests of the hotel get free access, while tickets for outside guests are quite affordable.

Dino Park offers a great opportunity for families and friends to enjoy a game of minigolf in a prehistoric setting. Located in Kata Beach, the minigolf course comprises 18 holes and life-size replicas of prehistoric creatures. Each hole has a distinctive theme and offers a different view of the ancient world. 

Patong Go-Kart Speedway offers fun and rip-roaring thrills for the whole family. The circuit is located at the feet of Patong Hill’s Kathu side. The racetrack is 750 metres long and has a series of sharp curves, smooth bends, and a long straight start/finish lane allowing acceleration.

Security is the first concern, and everything is organised to assure maximum safety. Staff members are vigilant and explain clearly what and what not to do. The race track is also in excellent shape – wide enough with a clear view of what’s coming next. Red and white tyres on either side of the track allow you to stop your machine safely, in case you miss a curve.

Football Crazy Golf Phuket opened in December 2011 and is located next to the original Phuket Go-Kart circuit at the bottom of Patong hill on the Kathu side. This activity is extremely popular in Scandinavian countries where tournaments are organised every year but is relatively new to Thailand (the first Football Golf course opened in Koh Samui in 2005).

This sport is obviously a mix of football and golf. Phuket Football Crazy Golf is set on an area about the size of a regular football field and offers an 18-hole, 69-par course. Fun for the whole family, this sport does not require any specific skill.

Kidzoona Phuket is a terrific place to take younger kids for some fun and laughter in Patong. An indoor play area within the Jungceylon shopping mall, it’s an all-weather activity. The air-conditioning keeps the kids cool at the height of the hot season, while the fact that it’s indoors makes it ideal for rainy days, too.

Although suitable for children aged 12 and under, it’s perhaps more suited for younger children up to around the age of 8. With plenty of equipment, games, and activities, plus a separate area for toddlers, this is a great place for children to enjoy themselves while the parents enjoy some retail therapy in the large shopping centre. Do note, however, that at least 1 adult must remain with the children.

Laser Battle Thailand is located in the centre of Bangla Game Space in Patong and is said to be the biggest laser shooting game area in all of Thailand. Don one of over 100 battle suits and enter an expansive battlefield to try to shoot your opponent’s badge with a laser.

One of the best things about Laser Battle Thailand is that you can come here as part of a team or simply join with other players who are already enjoying a game. Admission is from around 400 baht per player.

Flying Hanuman in Kathu is an excellent option if you're the type of person who loves high-flying thrills. It lets you to zip around 40 metres above Phuket's lush tropical jungle.

Eco-friendly and well-executed, this adventure park explores the jungle from high up in the forest canopy. All platforms are made of wood and supported by industrial-strength cables. Ziplines can hold multiple tonnes of force and are checked regularly for signs of wear and tear.

Phuket Wake Park offers one of the most fun and challenging activities in Phuket. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you can enjoy many exciting wakeboarding rides at this outdoor park. It has a large freshwater lake equipped with 2 Sesitec Cable systems: a short one for beginners and one that goes all around the basin.
