4 Great Waterfalls in Phuket

Phuket Waterfalls Guide

Waterfalls in Phuket are very popular among locals who want to enjoy a nice swim and a picnic, especially when the beaches are packed with travelers. Bang Pae, Ton Sai, and Kathu are the island’s most popular waterfalls, but you can also find lesser-known ones in the east of Phuket.

The Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is where you can find Bang Pae and Ton Sai, and the park itself is the last vestige of virgin tropical forest on the island. It’s home to many indigenous animals, including the barking deer and various species of monkeys, as well as tropical birds.

1. Ton Ao Yon Waterfall

An out-of-the-way treasure

Categorías: Fotos, Asequible, Aventuras, Poco común

Ton Ao Yon Waterfall is a rather hidden swimming hole around 2.2 miles east of the Kao Khad View Point. Getting to the top of this waterfall is challenging because of the sharp rocks and meandering pathways, so you need good shoes to protect yourself. The adventure is worth it though, to reach this hidden gem.

Ton Ao Yon Waterfall has several drop pools that are big enough to bathe in. Since many people skip this spot in favor of Phuket’s more popular waterfalls, you may be able to get the entire area to yourself.

Nestled in the lush Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, Bang Pae Waterfall is Phuket’s largest waterfall and a refreshing escape from the island’s beaches. A short jungle trek leads to the cascading falls, surrounded by towering trees and vibrant wildlife. The cool, shaded area is perfect for a picnic or a quick dip in the natural pool at the base.

Ideal for nature lovers and photographers, Bang Pae combines tranquility with adventure, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking Phuket’s greener, more serene side. If you work up an appetite, there are several restaurants near the parking area and outside the entrance gates. Leer más

Kathu Waterfall has a series of drop pools that are best seen during the rainy season in Phuket. It’s a challenging climb if you want to get to the very top of the waterfall, but with the greatest exertion comes the greatest reward. There are stone stairways most of the way up, it’s shady, and there are several rest stops for you to catch your breath at.

The best time to visit Kathu Waterfall is from June to November, but avoid going on rainy days as the stairs can be very slippery. The top of the waterfall has a natural pool, but you can find several ‘drop pools’ along the way up as well. Leer más

Though it’s rather far from the beaches, you’ll get to enjoy delightful farmland views along the road that leads to the falls. Ton Sai Waterfall has ample facilities that include restrooms, a carpark, a small children’s playground, and a camping spot. Leer más
