Choosing the best time of the year to visit Morocco is a great problem to have, because the North African country offers truly memorable activities, sights and scenes in year-round abundance.
If you want to enjoy the beaches, then spring or summer is likely the best time to visit. If you want to visit cultural and historical sites inland, take a trip to the desert, or barter your way through bustling souks, then waiting for the temperatures to drop a little might be advised. And if you’re a music or cinema fan there are specific annual dates you will want to add to your diary. So, let’s discover the best time of year to visit Morocco.
Outdoor fun before the temperatures rise

Spring is one of the best times to visit Morocco as the annual rains are easing off and the temperatures are warm but not yet hitting the sweltering heights. It’s a wonderful time to hit both the coastal resorts and the country’s interior, especially if outdoor pursuits such as hiking, cycling, and quad biking are on your itinerary.
While March is seen as the optimum time to visit Morocco due to its welcoming climate, it is worth bearing Ramadan in mind when planning your trip. This important and special period for those of Muslim faith often occurs during March, so plan accordingly.

The summer is an ideal time to travel to Morocco for anyone who is interested in relaxing in the sun and enjoying beach and water-related activities like swimming and surfing.
There’s also plenty on offer elsewhere, too. In the northern city of Fes, there is the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music, an annual musical and spiritual event including concerts and debates held over 10 days with past performers including Bjork, Miriam Makeba, Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, and Patti Smith. Music fans will also enjoy Mawazine, an annual week-long music festival in Rabat and a major cultural event in the country, which has pulled in crowds of more than 2.75 million people.

Sightseeing and a night under the stars

In-the-know locals and experienced travelers often favor September, known as Morocco’s “shoulder” season, as the preferred time to explore the area’s rich culture and history. This is because temperatures start to cool down and peak summer tourist crowds begin to thin out.
The cooler climate makes it a great time to go quad biking in the dunes of the Sahara Desert and take in a memorable sunset and night of unrivaled star gazing. Haggle your way through the bustling souks of Marrakech, experience the medieval charms of Fes, and meander your way through the historic medina of Casablanca. Temperatures are still high but more comfortable for those for whom the summer heat might be too much.

Skiing in Africa? You got it

Sun-kissed Morocco with its Mediterranean climate, sizzling temperatures, and sand dunes, has many hidden delights. And one of its most surprising and best-kept secrets are its ski resorts.
The High Atlas Mountains region, 80 km south of Marrakech, is home to Oukaïmeden, at around 3,000 meters. Depending on recent snowfall and current conditions, it can offer up to 21 km of ski trails. The quality of the runs can vary, and the downhill can be challenging due to the presence of rocks, but the slopes provide a unique African skiing experience. Additionally, the views are unrivaled. While Oukaïmeden is the most popular, other ski resorts in the Atlas Mountains include Michlifen, Djebel Bou Iblane, Jbel Hebri, and Rif Gebirge.
