Decent - repairs in process - lovely property
Ocean Pines is a beautiful property that spans the barrier island - expansive beach to bay. I liked that the beach entrance was right at the lifeguard chair.
Many of the units - like ours - have a lovely deck or two. We spent a lot of time on the deck because it was shaded and breezy and great to be among the huge lovely trees on the property. Tons of large live oaks and Loblolly pines - really nice to see how they were preserved.
One downside of the property was that the pool was closed! We did not expect this - and were counting on swimming. Additionally the ocean was too rough for swimming so that was a disappointment. Since the pool is being worked on (cement trucks and all), I feel that the property should have notified us.
The unit was ok - a bit dated and worn, and a bit musty with the carpet (I really don't understand putting carpet in a rental in this climate!). The beds were comfy and the kitchen functioned well. It was very nice to have shaded parking right at the unit - nice touch.
The interior stairs were quite steep - I wouldn't bring grandma to this property! We are in our 60s and found ourselves really grabbing the banister and being very cautious getting up and down the 3 levels (entrance on bottom, bedrooms and bathrooms on 2nd floor, kitchen DR and LR on 3rd floor).
The neighborhood was great - not a long drive to food or coffee or whatever. But not really walkable if that's what you want.
