I’ve stayed at the Sitka hotel before but things have changed in two years: the staff aren’t welcoming, the place feels like it could do with a deep clean and on arrival, not only was my bed badly made but my coffee etc hadn’t been replenished. When I asked the man at reception desk for more (the man who queried the validity of my overseas passport!), it took him some effort to go and get some. The next day, I hoped my room would be restocked as I spoke to several people, only to find out later that housekeeping had gone home a d I should have requested for my room to be done. So I remade my bed while the charmless one went off insearch for coffee.
On the plus side, there’s a free transfer from the airport and the driver was helpful. The hotel location is excellent for walking around Sitka. The restaurant Mangiare’s, on the premises was good.
Overall, for the hefty price the Sitka Hotel are charging they need to up their game on delivering service to visitors instead of being made tofeel they are cutting corners (like now charging for basic breakfast items instead of it being included in the package as it used to).
