I’ve been staying at the Landmark Motel for years. It’s clean, simple and affordable. However, it’s been going downhill since the new owners took over. My husband and I stayed a couple nights ago and what a disappointment. Upon entering the room, we noticed that they had spackled up a bunch of spots on the walls that weren’t sanded or painted. Not a huge deal. We dropped our bags in the room and went to dinner. When we got back, I turned on the heat to warm the room and waited. Because we got back late, and we usually sleep in a cool room we just thought we’d deal and let management know the heat wasn’t working in the morning. Then I turned on the fan in the bathroom. It sounded like a jackhammer. Again, we would just let them know about that too. Then I noticed the mildew around the facet in the bathroom. But to top it all off, we found a tissue that had blood on it in the bed. Which led us to believe the sheets weren’t changed.
When we checked out, I mentioned the heat and fan to the manager. He started by saying that he thought the heat was fixed and continued with excuses and told me that the owners don’t want to put any money into the place and if they did, they would have to raise the rates and then they won’t rent out as many rooms. My thought is that if things don’t get fixed or cleaned properly, no one will come back. Because he wasn’t hearing me or my concerns, I didn’t even mention the mildew or bloody tissue. We won't be coming back.
