Jim McGees is a great pub, old school without food, but as a place to stay you could eat elsewhere first then have drinks in the marvellous bar, which has an eclectic array of photographs and posters on its walls which create a very special ambience. The service from the man in charge was perfect; discreet, prompt, courteous. When we retired for the night the room upstairs was surprisingly like something you would find in a smart hotel, the room elegantly and simply decorated, the bed huge with crisp white cotton sheets, incredibly comfortable, a couple of blue velvet chairs at a table with tea and coffee facilities (but you had to place the kettle on the floor to boil it near the socket and it was too big to fill it from the sink so you had to do that using a cup, but these were somehow rather interesting quirks rather than a negative thing, such was our love for the whole experience of Jim McGees.
Parking is within the grounds of the establishment which makes it even better.
Highly recommended !
