Gothic St. Ludgerus Church and half-timbered houses create a living history book along cobblestone streets. Nearby Baldeneysee lake invites swimming and sailing while forest trails beckon hikers seeking peaceful nature escapes. Traditional German gasthauses serve hearty Westphalian fare around the abbey square. Family-run pensions in converted medieval buildings offer cozy accommodations with local hospitality. The S-Bahn whisks you to Essen's center in just 15 minutes, though the compact historic district is best explored on foot.

Flowers Hotel Essen
"Fantastic location. Staff were lovely. We did have an issue a few times with our card key not working which was a bit annoying. Especially when the front desk was not staffed for 15-20 minutes when we got back to the hotel. However we were offered breakfast as compensation which was a nice..The rooms are huge! And we loved the balcony. Great value overall despite minor glitches. Would definitely book again. Oh and fantastic roof top bar!!!"
