Top neighborhoods in Phuket

Old Phuket Town
Historical interest abounds in this area, with Sino-Portuguese buildings lining the streets and old structures transformed into shops, hotels, and museums. Explore main streets like Thalang and Phang Nga for a unique experience.

Talat Yai
Talat Yai blends history and culture in a delicious feast for the senses. Colorful Sino-Portuguese shophouses line narrow streets, housing art galleries and cafes behind mint green and coral pink facades. The Sunday Walking Street transforms historic lanes into a vibrant cultural bazaar, while Chinese shrines fill the air with incense and tradition. Local eateries serve authentic Hokkien noodles and Peranakan cuisine in family-run establishments throughout this walkable district. Heritage hotels in converted mansions offer cultural immersion with personal touches. Getting around is easy with abundant tuk-tuks and songthaews connecting you to Phuket's beaches just 30 minutes away.

Talat Nuea
Talat Nuea's colorful Sino-Portuguese shophouses transport you to Phuket's tin-mining heyday. Chinese shrines fill narrow streets with incense while century-old coffee shops serve Hokkien noodles at marble-topped tables. The neighborhood bursts with authentic cultural experiences from traditional medicine shops to local markets selling Thai delicacies. Family-run restaurants dish up genuine Peranakan cuisine that won't break the bank. Heritage boutique hotels in restored shophouses offer cultural immersion with historic charm. The compact area is best explored on foot, with songthaews available for trips to Phuket Town center.

Chinatown
Phuket's Chinatown dazzles with ornate Chinese shrines tucked between colorful Sino-Portuguese shophouses. Red lanterns glow against weathered facades while traditional medicine shops display dried herbs in glass jars. The Weekend Market and Talad Yai buzz with energy, perfect for sampling authentic Chinese-Thai cuisine or hunting for unique treasures among the narrow streets. Getting around is best done on foot through the compact historic core, though tuk-tuks and taxis are readily available. Heritage hotels in restored buildings offer cultural immersion with traditional architectural elements. Most shops and eateries close by early evening, making mornings ideal for exploring this living museum of Chinese-Thai traditions.

Beneath swaying palms, Phuket's beaches beckon with powdery sand and turquoise waters perfect for snorkeling adventures. Patong Beach buzzes with energy day and night, while Bangla Road transforms into a neon-lit carnival after sunset. Escape to nearby islands where limestone karsts rise dramatically from crystal waters. The Weekend Market offers everything from street food to souvenirs, all requiring friendly haggling. Phuket Town's colorful Sino-Portuguese buildings house quirky museums and local cafes. After beach time, visit the Big Buddha for panoramic island views. Don't miss a traditional Thai massage – the perfect remedy for sunburned shoulders. For a cultural fix, the Thai Hua Museum reveals the island's fascinating heritage through interactive exhibits.

Ratri Hotel Phuket Old Town
"What a great vacation! The hotel is located a short walk from the heart of Old Town shopping area. The staff really made sure that we had a wonderful time. They were attentive and went out their way to make sure we had what we needed. The breakfast was great a nice variety of foods. Most people would be able to find several offerings that suit their palate. My room was clean and very comfortable. Thank you for making our vacation a memorable experience."

The Memory at On On Hotel
"What can I say about this mesmerizing beautiful boutique style hotel. If you want to stay in downtown Phuket this is the best option with amazing street access. Staff is very helpful and friendly and makes you feel home."
Paradox Resort Phuket
"The resort was well-located and clean, the staff was exceptional, and the breakfast left nothing to be desired—I loved everything about it."
The Besavana Phuket
"It was just okay. Toilet seat and shower head were both broken, but still usable. It was just okay, not excellent."
Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort
"We stayed at Le Meridien as a group of 6, 5 Adults and one 8 year old for a week (one adult stayed 4 nights). We all really enjoyed our stay. The resort is large, clean, well maintained, with good amenities. Breakfast has a wide choice and wasn't overly busy. The hotel is a little out of the way, but 10-15 mins in a taxi gets you into Karen, Kata or Patong. The only slight negative was that we were given 3 rooms, weren't told which was which was allocated to who and this caused some challenges with charging food/drinks to the rooms, also with the early checkout. In theory this should have been easy to rectify but it never did happen. However, it didn't affect the quality of our stay or the enjoyment of it."
Casa Blanca Boutique hotel
