Stayed here over Christmas for my 40th birthday and have nothing but good things to say about them. The place was clean and beautiful and the food at the Restaurante Cocorri was phenomenal.
But the most memorable part was the way they treated me when I got hurt. I tripped walking up the step and dislocated my pinky. Jeremy (I believe is the manager) drove me to the hospital himself, AND gave me cash for a ride back. ¡Excelentes hospitalidades!
My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the end of June and it was spectacular. The food, service, activities, spa, and grounds exceeded our expectations. We were a part of the first group of rafters allowed into (and out of) the lodge following the torrential rains and at no time did we feel unsafe. The only thing I didn't like was the restaurant. We ordered two lobster dinners and were served shrimp. When we stole the waitress that we ordered lobster and got shrimp, she looked at our plates and said, "no, that is lobster." I said no it is not and so did my grandson. Then she came back and said they could correct only one plate. I said, "how is that reasonable? We ordered two lobster plates and got shrimp. Why wouldn't you correct both?" We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, and this place is absolutely beautiful. The property is peaceful, scenic, and truly feels like a hidden gem. The only concern I had was that the website listed kayaking and lazy river tubing as available activities, but when we arrived, we were informed that they do not currently offer them. The location was beautiful and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again. While we had some problems at checkout (they couldn't run a credit card because the staff at the desk "didn't know how"-- we had to pay in cash). I'm assuming this was an anomaly, as the rest of our stay was very enjoyable. Rooms are large and clean, although not air-conditioned, which was fine. Excellent food and caring staff. Can't beat the location and view.
This hotel was perfect while staying in Turrialba to go white river rafting on the river. Its walking distance to downtown and to the bus station (I arrived via bus from San Jose and walked to the hotel in minutes). The staff here is wonderful. Great breakfast, simple and clean rooms. This hotel is awesome and for an affordable price!
