"A $10 hostel would have been a similar experience to the $65 Golden Garden, it's absolute rubbish value.
Firstly reception incorrectly insisted we had not paid when booking, so we had to pay again and then reclaim through Expedia afterwards, leaving us short.
Secondly, our room was super hot and sweaty due to completely ineffective aircon. I raised this twice with owner who was already aware of the issue. The second time I specifically requested a solution she said that 'next time' we came she'd give us a different room.
Thirdly, the hotel was hiring the 'Business Centre' meters from our door for wedding reception. We weren't warned at check in nor offered a further-away room. I complained at 2am but no sleep (not that one could sleep whilst sweating profusely due to no cooling) until after 2.30am when drunks stopped screaming.
Owners have mistaken big, poorly designed rooms and special effects lighting for 'luxury' (their internal propaganda calls it a 'luxury' hotel).
Bathroom walls finish well before the ceiling so there is no auditory nor olfactory privacy. If you can have backlit soap holder and LED mirror then you can install an exhaust fan and make the bathroom window four times larger to deal with humidity rather than open bathroom
For $65 apart from expecting functioning aircon, a lack of wedding reception to sleep by and not to have to dust surfaces in order to use them, I would also hope for somewhere to hang a towel, toilet paper in reach and bedside light. "
"The hotel is about 1 1/3 blocks from the main square with level ground. Shops nearby ranged from elegant fashion and restaurants (a good variety, to a hair salon, electronics and a dollar store. Located across the street from a bank, the hotel seemed quite secure. Breakfast was quite good with plenty of choices. All the staff were exceptional. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and any requests we made were immediately fulfilled. Our suite was clean and well furnished. We would definitely choose this property if we were in Loja again."
